Get Steampunked

So you love Steampunk but are not sure where to begin. Just what exactly are the elements that you need to start your quintessential Steampunk look? Here is a quick guide to just what you might want to look out for:

Clock work: This is the first thing one thinks about whenever the word ‘Steampunk’ is mentioned. Those delicate but very technical clock and watch parts have an elegance of their own. You will find them on rings, necklaces and bracelets to name but a few. Picking out a clockwork look ring can actually be the best choice for those who do not wish to go ‘all out’ with the look. A small but beautifully crafted piece can add bags of style to even your everyday work outfit.

Victoriana: Get to the heart of Steampunk as a style and you will find that it is all about the Victorian. Take a look at any Steampunk costume and you will find costumes that are so inspired of this time period. Long feminine dresses will be accentuated with cameo jewellery, lady like scarves too. But this is only in conjunction with the tough leather and brass accessories of Steampunk that we all love. Why not give your vintage punk look a little bit of a twist with a brass filigree style ring from Fruttituttibeadcandy?  So intricately carved out but with a strong industrial element too, it is a must have for your Steampunk inspired accessorizing.

Intruments of Science: Look out for those small and dainty looking scientific instruments. This could be anything as simple as a glass vial small enough to be made into an elegant pendant. Or even a pretty brass key like this one:
